The Benefits of Adding RF Energy to Microneedling Treatments
Is your skin rough, wrinkled, or uneven? Skin care specialists use therapies like radiofrequency (RF) energy and microneedling to rejuvenate your skin, improving its tone and texture. If you’re looking for fast results from a facial treatment, booking an appointment that delivers both therapies at once could be your best option.
At New Image Medical Spa in Fremont, California, Dr. Surinder Sandhu and her team use the Potenza™ RF microneedling system to deliver gentle RF energy at the same time as a microneedling session, giving your face a complete rejuvenating treatment.
How our skin rejuvenation treatments work
Microneedling and RF skin tightening operate differently, but they can accomplish many of the same goals. When performed together, they have the ability to enhance the overall efficacy of your medical spa treatment.
Microneedling
Microneedling uses small, sterile needles to make tiny punctures in your skin. These “micro-injuries” draw blood to the area, even though the tiny pinpricks usually don’t even visibly bleed. But under the surface of your skin, platelets and growth factors are stimulated to kickstart the healing process, encouraging the development of collagen and elastin for firmer, healthier, and more attractive skin.
Radiofrequency energy
RF energy treatment is often recommended for skin tightening, as the gentle pulses penetrate deep into the dermis. The mild heat generated by the RF device helps increase blood flow and stimulate collagen and elastin production. When used together with microneedling, the RF energy is able to work deeper in the skin layers for more visible effects.
Our RF/microneedling approach
At New Image Medical Spa, we use an RF microneedling system called Potenza. The small roller holds both the microneedling and RF devices, allowing RF energy to be delivered directly into deeper layers of skin as the microneedling takes place.
As the RF energy is absorbed, your skin may feel warm and tingly. Over the next three weeks, the treated area will continue to heal. Dead and damaged tissues are absorbed and disposed of by your body’s natural waste-management system, while fibroblasts stimulate the production of new proteins and organize existing collagen into stronger strands.
Your skin should improve for the next six months while collagen turnover and strengthening continues, and elastin becomes more mature and uniform just under the surface of your skin. You can continue receiving regular Potenza treatments to maintain your appearance over time.
